Our Process

Book your Appointment

 

 

 

Book your appointment 8-10 weeks in advance or even plan ahead for the whole season.  When you purchase chicks that is an ideal time to schedule your appointment.  At a minimum we require 2 weeks notice scheduling any appointment – we will do our best to accommodate you. 

We butcher Monday thru Friday with an occasional Saturday on weeks that overfill. 

IMPORTANT!

 

Remove feed 15 hours prior to your appointment – – water only.  This helps us ensure the cleanest conditions during processing.  Keep your chickens environment clean!

The best way to catch chickens is when they are roosting .  Poultry Crates are available for loan but due to our high volumes we ask you only pick them up the day prior to your appointment.  You are more than welcome to bring them by your own means,  old dog kennels- but must have absorbent mat/bedding.  Please do not put your chickens in any sealed tight containers they will expire prematurely, also no cardboard boxes please.   Once you have caged your birds,  take your poultry for a ride into the country!  

Drop Off

 

Bring your flock to the farm at your designated appointment time.  We try to be as accommodating as possible and we start our day early in the morning.  If it suits your needs coordinate with us to drop off the night prior to your appointment.

 

The front of our facility has a roll up door labeled ‘Drop Off’, roll it up and place your crates inside.  Close it behind you to insure your poultry is safe from predators.  YOU MUST LABEL YOUR CRATES WITH YOUR NAME AND PHONE NUMBER.

Appointment Day

 

All orders are processed same day.  For smaller orders ~15 we can typically turn around in about an hour. Run to town, run some errands and come back to pick up. If your work schedule constrains you until evening please let us know.  We can run your order last and it will be ready for you on your drive home from work.  We run a tight schedule your order will be completed as scheduled – we do not call to tell you it is done.  

 

We cannot emphasize enough – YOU MUST PICK UP THE SAME DAY YOUR ORDER IS PROCESSED OR YOU RISK SPOILING YOUR MEAT – AT YOUR LOSS.  We do NOT provide overnight cold storage. 

Pick Up

 

 

Your order will be processed in one of 2 ways – see pricing.

1.) Your birds are placed into an individual stainless steel vat filled with fresh chilled water.  We do not intermix orders.  It is your responsibility to pull the birds out of the vat and take home.  We suggest you deep clean your cooler or use a bag liner and put all of your chickens into a cooler with ice for the ride home.  This makes your pick up fast and enables you to bag them, food saver them, etc. for your needs.

2.)  If you are paying for our vacuum packing service your order will be vacuum sealed and labeled. Bring your own boxes / coolers, etc.
